Directions for Use:
Apply as suggested below to housing and equipment.
Wear suitable protective clothing.
1: Clean and disinfect with Smite Professional Ready-to-Use Trigger Spray.
2: Kill and prevent with Mighty Organic Bedding Powder (see Poultry Parasite Control Products).
3: Add Red Stop Solution to your bird's drinking water (see Poultry Parasite Control Products).
The following protocol has been used successfully for the control of Red Mite.
1: Before depopulation of the unit, initially spray Smite Professional RTU to equipment and nesting areas. (This also gives a comfortable environment when removing equipment manually).
2: Remove all equipment from the unit, including any plastic slats, as these can harbour mite in the joints.
3: The housing unit and equipment should then be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected to a clinical standard, using Smite Professional RTU. Take care to remove all litter and manure from every area, thus removing as many mites as possible. Pay particular attention to cracks and crevices, perches and joints.
4: Leave all treated areas to air dry and then dust liberally with Mighty Organic Bedding Powder to kill any mites and mite eggs which have not been removed by the cleaning process. Pay particular attention to cracks, crevices, perches and nesting areas. Sprinkle Mighty Organic Bedding Powder liberally over the surface of the litter.
5: When the new crop of birds has been introduced, or the original birds re-introduced, and the unit temperature has stabilised, spray the building and equipment with Smite Professional RTU.
6: Six to seven days later, spray the whole housing unit again with a 6% solution of Smite Professional RTU (2 x 30ml pump doses of trigger spray per litre of water) and re-apply Mighty Organic Bedding Powder to nesting areas, crevices and perches. This will treat any mite eggs which have hatched since the initial treatment. In severe infestations, the treatment should be repeated very 7-10 days until the infestation is under control.
Advice for the promotion of a mite and disease free environment:
Especially during the warmer months, routine 'best practice' is to spray with a 3% solution of Smite Professional RTU (1 x pump dose of trigger spray per litre of water), followed by a liberal dusting of Mighty Organic Bedding Powder every 4-6 weeks, even if mites are not visible.
*Introduce Red Stop Solution (see Poultry Parasite Control Products) to your bird's drinking water.
Red Stop Solution is a unique 100% natural treatment which allows you to protect your birds from red mite and northern mite by simply adding it to their drinking water.
After ingestion, Red Stop Solution enters the bird's blood stream and renders the blood indigestible and unattractive to the mites, causing them to stop feeding and die of starvation - and because they can't feed, they can't breed.
Red Stop Solution should be administered all year round to maintain a constant level of protection for your birds. This will be highly effective come the warmer months when mites start to appear again.
