Containing mint for extra tastiness, Excel Guinea Pig Nuggets are naturally high in beneficial fibre (36.6%) and include added vitamins and minerals for healthy eyes, skin and coat. This tasty feed also helps to prevent selective feeding (where the Guinea Pig picks out the sweet high sugar elements of the diet and leaves the nutritious and fibre rich elements). Burgess Excel Guinea Pig Nuggets also contain a natural prebiotic for digestive health, high levels of protected vitamin C and natural antioxidants to support the immune system.

Instructions / Feeding Guide

• Remember that good quality hay and/or grass should make up the majority of your guinea pigs’ diet and should be available at all times.

• Guinea pigs should also be fed a small portion of Excel nuggets, the occasional snack to add variety and encourage emotional enrichment, and a small handful of leafy greens each day.

• Fresh, clean water should always be available.

• If you are currently feeding a muesli style food to your guinea pigs, you should gradually transfer your pets onto a hay and nugget based feeding plan over a period of between 14 and 28 days.

• You can do this by gradually reducing the amount of muesli and increasing the proportion of nuggets until they have completely replaced the mix (see image).

• Always ensure you are monitoring your guinea pigs’ weight to ensure a healthy weight. If you are ever unsure you should seek veterinary advice.

Burgess Pet Care
Burgess is an independent family run business based in Thornton-le-Dale. They are one of the UK’s leading animal food manufacturers, catering for the country’s top nine most popular animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, hamsters, gerbils, rats and ferrets. Starting out as flour millers in the 17th century in North Yorkshire, the Burgess family moved into producing wholesome farm animal feeds in the early 1960’s initially at Victory Mill in Thornton-le-Dale on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. In the 1980’s they focussed on small animal food at Cherry Tree Mill in East Yorkshire. Using the expertise and experience built over the centuries, Burgess produce high quality, award winning foods and have launched many innovations including the UK’s first single component nugget for rabbits and the world’s first food specifically formulated for indoor rabbits. Today their head office is still in Victory Mill, almost 100 years after they first moved there, and are still producing small animal food at Cherry Tree Mill. Having developed strong working relationships with the local agricultural communities over the years Burgess use locally sourced ingredients wherever possible and often have deliveries by tractor.
