Instructions for Use: (for more setting details see video).

• Use indoors or outside the home, farm or commercial premises.

• Position the cage trap wherever evidence of rats or other nuisance small animals have been seen.

• Always wear gloves when handling traps - this prevents contact with potential contaminants. It also helps prevent the transfer of human odours onto the trap.

• To set, push the thumb plate on the door and lift open using the handle at the bottom.

• Carefully position the setting arm hook into the loop on the door using the setting arm handle on top of the cage.

• Once the trap is properly set, the setting arm will be in a perpendicular position and the bottom of it will rest adjacent to the treadle.

• Reach into the cage trap and place bait (food, lure, attractant) on the bait well at the centre of the treadle.

• Captured animals can be safely transported by lifting the cage using the carrier handle.

CAUTION:

• This trap must not be used in areas where red squirrels may be present, as it is an offence to intentionally kill or injure a red squirrel.

• Traps must be checked on a daily basis and any red squirrels trapped must be released immediately.

• It is an offence to release a grey squirrel into the wild, therefore any grey squirrels caught must be destroyed immediately.

ANIMAL WELFARE:

It is a legal requirement, under the Animal Welfare Act (2006), to protect animals from unnecessary suffering. Traps must be checked at least once daily, and removed from use when this is not possible. Ensure non-target captured animals are released promptly in a suitable habitat with access to food, water and shelter. Any captured target animal should be dispatched quickly and humanely and the body disposed of responsibly.
